Book One

For centuries now the nation's oldest city has been under a dark curse, and an evil force has been gaining power.  An ancient prophecy tells of three sisters, who will bring secrets to light, save the city from destruction, and free the souls trapped within.  This prophecy has been lost to time, and forgotten.

In present day St. Augustine, the young Waverly sisters live in a charming Bed & Breakfast on the bay, along with their overbearing grandmother, Evelyn, and their eccentric great-grandmother, G.G.  The oldest, Alex, is just graduating from High School, and feels trapped in the family business and the town where her life has been planned for her.  Sam, two years younger, is ever patient and kind.  And the youngest, Joe, is still an outspoken and playful child.  They live a simple, but happy life.

But on the night of Alex's eighteenth birthday she discovers a family secret so terrifying that she runs away without even saying goodbye.  When she returns ten years later, she must face the traumatic events of her past and many changes, including a beloved family member who no longer remembers her, a sister who hates her, and the reemergence of a gift she always thought was a curse.  As she seeks to reclaim the life she once abandoned, she initiates a series of events that will push her to the brink of insanity, endanger the lives of those she loves, and change the ancient city forever.
